How to travel with kiddos, kiddos with neurodivergent needs may require greater routine or support for travel. Frontloading your children with times, days they will be gone, what activities they will do, plus the expectation for the travel, will help in getting everyone on board for the trip.

We always take food, games, toys, music, pillows, and blankets or stuffyies. At one point, we had a mini fridge in the car for my grandson’s milk. You know your child, his sensory needs, overload limit, and food choices. Stick to what you know your family’s needs and try to bring the high points on your trip.

Letting your children know what to expect from behavior, the trip, other people, and food is huge for preparation, consistency, and success on your trip.

As my grandson got older, his needs changed, and an extra charging block, an external battery, a camera, and lenses were our deal breakers! He now loves photography and carries the camera everywhere when we travel.
